In-The-Ear (ITE) Hearing Aids

What is an ITE Hearing Aid?

In-The-Ear (ITE) hearing aids are custom-made devices that fill the outer portion of the ear (the concha and part of the ear canal). They are visible but compact, easy to handle, and accommodate larger batteries and controls compared to completely-in-canal styles.

  • Custom shell made from an ear impression for a snug fit
  • Larger controls and easier handling — great for dexterity issues
  • Better battery life or rechargeable options due to larger space
  • Many models support Bluetooth and accessories

Frequently Asked Questions

With proper care and periodic servicing, ITE hearing aids typically last 4–7 years depending on model, battery type and usage.

ITEs are used less frequently for young children because ears grow and frequent ear-mould changes may be needed. For older children and adolescents they can be a good option—discuss with our audiologist.

Many modern ITE models include Bluetooth or are compatible with small streamers. We’ll recommend models and accessories depending on your needs.

Wipe the shell with a soft cloth daily, keep the microphone and receiver ports clear, avoid moisture exposure, and have professional cleaning every 3–6 months. We provide a cleaning kit and instructions at fitting.
